Hexamethyldisiloxane is used as a solvent in organic reactions. It finds application as an international standard for 1H NMR spectroscopy for calibrating chemical shift. Further, it is used in liquid bandages to protect skin from irritation. In addition, it is used to measure tissue oxygen tension as a receptor molecule.

Anwendungen
Hexamethyldisiloxan wird als Lösungsmittel in organischen Reaktionen verwendet. Es findet Anwendung als internationaler Standard für 1H-NMR-Spektroskopie zur Kalibrierung chemischer Verschiebungen. Hygroskopisch. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Säuren, Basen und Sauerstoff.
