• Hemmt die Initiierung und verursacht Fehllesung der rRNA in der Proteinsynthese.Diese Verbindung bindet an das S12-Protein der bakteriellen ribosomalen 30S-Untereinheit und hemmt so die Peptidelongation und die Proteinsynthese.

Verwendung

• Streptomycin-Sulfat kann zur Untersuchung der Mechanismen der Streptomycin-Resistenz verwendet werden

•Diese Verbindung kann in Laboranwendungen zusammen mit Penicillin zur Hemmung der bakteriellen Kontamination in der In-vitro-Zellkultur verwendet werden

•Streptomycin-Sulfat zeigt eine antibiotische Wirkung gegen Mycobacterium tuberculosis

•Diese Verbindung kann als Inhibitor der Proteinsynthese verwendet werden
